Opal, 10 week old white EE, was attack today while I was out working on the run. She has a bloody bare spot on her back from her tail forward.

Had my husband run to TSC before they closed for blue wound lotion and we put her in a large Rubbermaid brooder with water and feed.

Is there anything else I need to do for her? She is not happy being alone.

Any advise is appreciated.

Huh, most of my chicks will leave the other bird alone once there's blue kote on them. Once it is dried, I'd consider returning her.

How much room do you have your chicks in?

That's a must. I've started moving my chickens around in the daytime to accommodate their size and keep them in the coop at night. If they're getting aggressive, it's because they're crowded.

Am very aware that crowding is the cause and I have been watching closely but today I was out with my husband working on the run...as I said there have been problems with getting the run completed.

Could you put a few more chicks in with the wounded one until you are able to complete the coop? Maybe that would alleviate the crowding problem for the time being. Otherwise, they might pick a new victim.
