EE Hen or Rooster???

I just loved the way the look (the feathers on either side of their face) and love the colored eggs. I'm still a bit nervous around them and I think they know it, but I'm hoping they will warm up to me more as I lose my nervousness. I am a true animal lover, but never raised chickens before, but got flogged by a rooster when I was 15 at a friends house and have been nervous aound them every since. Hoping I get past that though. I think the 2 I have are gorgeous and I love Dumplin's personality

They are very pretty. I haved raised chickens for a few years and I got this roo from someone who was really mean to him. The only mean roo I have ever had. He will attack me if I get close to the hens or to him. I have scars on my leg from him. While it is untolerable he was not treated nice at his other home so it understand able that he is a jerk. He is starting to warm up after me having him a year. I never really thought I was afraid of him. Until I got another roo. He hasnt tried anything, but I have found myself afraid to get close to him. I never used to grab chickens by their legs but I do now because I am worried I might get attacked. Never realized until I got another roo. I have told myselfthat I need to just suck it up, the guy I got him from saidhe had never shown agression so what do I have to be afraid off? I am still very observant when I am around him just to make sure he dosent do anything. To catch the jerk roo I have to throw a towel on him. And it doesnt help that he is huge! I think eventually you will get over, just give it a little time and you will realize how great chickens are.
