EE or Ameraucana?

Pics
I think the confusion comes from the fact that Araucanas as we know them are not the birds developed in South America. Those birds were the foundation for the Araucanas and the Ameraucanas. People now say those birds were like landrace Easter Eggers, like a herd sire, but a breed sire instead I suppose. So people assigned the name EE to those birds that were the predecessors of the Araucana post-humously as it were.

Let me try to find the Quote from the Horse's mouth
Found it

The ameraucana standard calls for a bird to be an ameraucana it must meet the SOP and breed true to its color at least 50% of the time. When you cross varieties you get a lot of different modifiers, color patterns, and e locus differentials. Therefore, its hard to call anything thats a product of a mixed pen a true ameraucana unless you can breed it with the same color pattern and the results are the same 50% of the time year after year.
Wow glad horses aren't that complicated! Imagine if one had to have Bay colour as a pure bred, and Chestnut as pure... And so on... Chicken breeding sounds very complicated!

That's Mike Gilbert: Co-founded Ameraucana Bantam Club in 1978 with Don Cable. Developed many original strains of Ameraucana bantams, and several of Ameraucana large fowl. Life member of the American Poultry Association and the American Bantam Association

Is this Clear Enough???
So a couple of Mike's quotes from 2005 & 2006 makes it official?
Not even close in my book. Like Colt said people years later want to go back and call those original birds EEs.
I'm sure that's why Mike used the term in his quotes. By 2005 the term was well established.
Now if you want to refer to them as Easter Eggers formally known as Araucanas I might rethink my position.

Looks pretty official to me. He got his blue egger which was bearded and tailed that laid blue eggs from a hatchery before the name Ameraucana was selected by vote and they were using the name The American Araucana, The hatchery were selling them as Easter Egg chickens or Araucanas but were in fact the EEs we have come to know with multiple colors shape and forms that laid colored eggs

This is why I stay away from those two "things" I bought ameraucanas from a breeder before suprise the rooster had only one copy of blue egg gene and wasnt pure so I kept the hen until it laid then kept the egg for my egg collection and ate them all. Will never get those again they are also skittish to. Everyones calling every mixed breed ees these days and now oe when they are nothing but barnyard mutts

Ya it does sound official to me.
Don's birds were Araucanas. Mike was working with what he called American Araucana.
Sounds like they developed their birds from Araucanas.

Going to have to side with you here. 😅

I'm a BC person. I could care less about Araucanas, Ameraucanas, or EE's.
