EE or Ameraucana?

My goodness I tried nicely to correct someone on cl for selling ees as true ameraucanas and ive never seen someone be so rude and racist so fast in my life.

been doing some serious soul searching, I think part of the reason I care is because of the cost. The chicks are $17 st run, when I can go and get an EE pullet for 3 something. But at this ppint, what it's seeming like with the people that would call the mixed colored ones EEs is that any single bird could be a perfect specimen but an unrecognized color for that breed and they would be nothing more than a 3 something EE.

I know the Term Easter Egger have been used to described chickens that laid colored eggs sold by hatcheries way before the Araucana and Ameraucana breed got accepted to the SOP. The National Geographic posted pictures of an Eater Eagger Hen way back on the 1940s
Maybe you're referring to something earlier but....
They wrote the "Easter Egg chickens" article in 48. A lot would argue that that was the birth of the EE term. It certainly introduced many to the colored egg laying chickens.
In the article it does state that his birds were "a variation of the Araucana variety" doesn't it?
But ya the 40s were a long time ago but not as long ago as 27 when they published the Araucana chicken picture below....

That's such a pretty print. I wish the quality was higher. :)

Yes, The Araucana name is much older than EEs since it was being talked about in Chile by the late 1800s

Did we just make it all the way back around to saying the birds were Araucanas and the term EE came about after the Ameraucana Club dubbed non-standardized birds as Easter Eggers?
