I can't post pics yet, but my "Ameraucana" (as advertised by the feed store) is mostly brown and gold. She's beautiful, but I read something that seemed to say Ameraucanas were not brown...? Any ideas? In case anyone wants to look, I can post pics on my page, just not on the forum yet. I have a pic up of 2 birds, and she's the more colorful one.

Ha! I can post pictures now!!

Is the one on the right an EE or an Ameraucana? And please don't tell me that those pointy neck feathers look like a roo's....

EE hens. THere are multiple features that distinguish an Ameraucana from an EE, but to keep it easy, just keep in mind that no feedstore sells Ameraucanas. They are a purebred bird that only comes from breeders who spend a lot of money maintaining their lines.

the one on the left looks like a welsumer or brown leghorn, not an ee. But both of them do look like pullets!

nevermind...I read ahead again...You were only asking about the easter egger

Thanks everyone. I guess it doesn't make much difference since she probably has the blue or green egg gene and that's what I really wanted... especially appreciate Pele's advice. Good to know. The other bird is a Welsummer, by the way.
