I have a couple of EEs and one has a black and irridesent hackle and now the tail feathers are starting to curl but has not made any attempt to crow. Is it possible this is a hen? MY granddaughter named HER? cindarella i would hate to have to crock pot HER? Thanks Rick

Pictures would be helpful--but none of my EE hens have had "roo-ey" feathering.

HOw old is she/he? Are the tail feathers iridescent? A few shiny neak feathers may not mean anything. I had one like that that turned out to be a girl. Also, a little of a curl in the tail feathers can be a pullet. However, if the tailfeathers are iridescent, then I think you may have a "Prince Charming" instead of a "Cinderella". Mine started crowing around 3 months. Some start earlier...some a little later.
