ClucksAndCombs
Free Ranging
Hello!
My family got six Americanas (really easter eggers) day-olds 8 weeks ago. One of them, who we call Jasmine had muffs and beards, but none of them else did. Later, two other chicks got muffs, Leia and Jessie.
We still have three chicks with no muffs, which is a little strange. For a while, we thought it meant they were cockerels, but all have round feathers and no red on their tiny combs. (Hoping for pullets!)
Does it mean they are cockerels? Will these chicks get muffs in the future? Or will they be muff-less (haha)? We do have three 3-year-old EE hens, all with muffs, so this is new.
Thank you!
