I've searched some and think I know the answer but I want to make sure. I have 6 EE hens and rooster. The hens are approximately 14 months old. One of my hens has not left the nesting box the past 3 days. She does not seem sick. Yesterday, I let them out of the coop to free range before dark and she still would not leave. I picked her up and put her outside. She joined the others and scrathed around the yard until dark, went back in with the others, and went back to the box. I'm assuming she is broody but am concerned she is eggbound. I am leaving for a week starting Saturday so I want to make sure everything is alright before I leave. Any ideas? She is not sitting on any eggs.

Sounds broody to me. They'll sit with or without eggs. Do you feel an egg in her? Does she "growl" at you or peck at you? They'll do that at times when broody.
