Eectric fence to keep dogs and other predators out?

Height of old-school wiire fence depends on the dog. I have a lab and a chug. So I put a wire at "adams apple" height for each dog. Very effective. You do need to tighten the wire from time to time, and keep the grass trimmed. I have found that coons and possoms ignore the electric wire.

Our fence is an extension of the cattle electric fence. So it does deliver a strong message. Chickens don't bother it either, but it doesn't kill or maime them...just send em squaking.

Irrespective of whether you are using wire, electric rope, electronet, or whatever, any electric fence meant to keep dogs/coyotes out really ought to be run at 4,000v (note this is considerably more than it takes to contain cattle or horses).

GET A FENCE TESTER -- one of the good digital ones, the five-neon-lights jobbies are notoriously inaccurate and just touching the fence with a hand to see if you get zapped is totally inadequate to tell you actual voltage -- and USE IT FREQUENTLY. Daily for critical fences under high predator pressure; otherwise, at least weekly plus after any event that might affect the fence (windstorm, ice storm, heavy rainstorm, etc)
