I have an Australorpe and a white rock and 4 EE's...
The Australorpe and white rock have been laying for a few weeks.

The EE's faces have reddened, they squat... but still no eggs.
I know it will be soon. ..

3 weeks ago when I was frustrated waiting I posted and got my first egg that afternoon.. so I'm hoping this method works again!

ETA- I have a green egg! woohoo! Now I need to find my camera!

My girls were 39 and 40 weeks old when they laid their first eggs.. But it was well worth the wait.. I hope your's will be too...

I really hope I don't have to wait another 10 weeks.
The two that are laying are producing 10-11 eggs a week.. not enough for my family, and my MIL was hoping to get our extras!
I have enough room in the coop for 2 or 3 more hens, but I wasn't planning to get more till next spring...
Maybe I need to start looking for started pullets!

We have two EEs. One started around 18-19 weeks. The other was 41 weeks to the day.

Good luck! I hope you don't have to wait ten more weeks either!

I know, I'm an enabler.

I don't think you'll have that much more of a wait. Sounds like she's close. Is the skin around her beak red too?

I meant next spring as in a year from now.. I have a 5 month old baby right now, so I was thinking about picking up a couple of chicks in a year.. Kinda have my hands full with a teething baby.

As for my EE's- I have 4, Two of them are red around the beak, and I have seen both of them checking out the nest box. The other two aren't quite there... Thier combs are red, but not around the mouth..

I already prepared myself that I would have to wait longer to get eggs from my EE's but 40+ weeks!! Oh you guys have me scared now lol. They are only 7 weeks old now, what a long wait ahead for me.

Fingers crossed for a pretty blueish egg.

The 2 that are red around the beak are almost ready. The other 2 may have a bit longer to go.

ETA: If it makes you feel any better, I'm waiting on my 2 welsummer girls to start laying.
