EE's EGGs - who, where, when, what (let's track who laid what and who hatched from what)

Any idea of the dimensions of each box?
I only have 5 girls right now so I think that 2 boxes will be plenty.

Funny you should ask about the fake eggs. I have a couple of plastic eggs - they were NOT impressed. So I started collecting the eggs from the run and putting them in the box. I had 8 in there and still they ignored the box and layed in the run...
I think I'll try changing the bedding. Maybe they just don't like the hay.
The dimensions are 12" x 12" . Seems tight for some of my larger girls. I would go 14" x 14". Your girls are finicky :) Maybe put baskets or boxes in the run? They must like to see their surroundings when laying? Try shavings and see if they like that. Good Luck

My BO started out laying in the run. She laid twice out there and then I kept watch and caught her in the act. She hadn't laid yet so I picked her up and put her in the nest box. She stayed and laid her egg there and has laid them in the nest boxes ever since. I also have my nest boxes painted black inside so they look dark and cozy.

Do your nest have tops? They really like the security and privacy that a top offers. My nests are 12 x 14. I have three nest, but they only lay in one. They line up every day and take turns and fuss if someone is taking too long. So funny!

Man, I have an EE who will be 26 weeks old on Wed and she still hasn't laid an egg yet!!! Do you think if I squeeze her from the neck down, an egg will pop out??????? hahahaha! Just kidding.....I sure wish she would hurry and have an egg. My other EE laid an egg at 22 + 2 days old but it is pale pink. This is my last chance for a blue or green egg!
Still waiting on my older EE! She is 29 weeks old today! Ugg..I think she is broken! hahahaha......also just got 4 new chicks yesterday. Another EE, 2 Ameraucanas and a welsummer. Want fun colored eggs!

My last of my 3 EEs is laying

Who: Stella

2weeks

6weeks

about 12weeks

about 22 weeks

Where: Mypetchicken

When: She was hatched on Feb 27 So she is almost 25weeks(though I dont know her actual lay date)

what: Light creamy pink(the large one in the center)

I have no idea when she started to lay because I was looking for a blue or green but 2 days ago when I got 12 eggs in one day and I have 12 chickens I knew everyone was now laying. Im thinking hers might be the light pink as it is the only one that stands out from the other browns but I wont know til I catch her in the act
SOOOO this is my Stella. And I think I was way wrong about her laying eggs. I only got 12 eggs that one day 5 weeks ago and I think one most likely was left over from the night before. Her comb is still tiny and pink no squating no egg song. I thought it was odd I never saw her in the nest boxes. SO at 30 1/2 weeks old Im pretty sure Im still waiting on my last chicken Stella to lay eggs. Heres hoping I get another green or blue egg.

Who: Blu Bree (I'm reasonably sure... my other EE is not squatting...)
Where: MacMurray
When: hatched April 20th, 22 weeks 6 days

What: a lovely olive egg, pictured beside my very first egg, laid by BR Wilma

Sleepin' Peep, 6 weeks

with Mama Pug, Ruby @ 1 week

Yay! I finally get to post here! Two of my EE girls started laying this week.

8 weeks old. Samantha is in the middle, this is the day after I got her, along with Bernadette and Christine. I didn't realize until I got them home how dehydrated and skinny they were.

Samantha, middle of August. Her face had just started to redden.

Someone said I should repost this here so here you go!!!!! My first EE egg!!!!!! Isnt it a beauty!!!!!!!!

Not sure which girl laid it but I know it is one of two. Either this one...
or this one.....

The only reason I say that is because I checked for eggs (none) and was cleaning out the poop board tray... these two would not stay out of the coop. After I finished and went to rake out the run, they stayed in there. Then I went immediately to clean/ freshen the nesting boxes and the egg was there, still steaming hot ;)

I got my girls from a local breeder/Backyard chicken keeper. Her 12 yr old daughter breeds and raises them as a 4H project. She had beautiful bird and showed me the shells which were gorgeous...though I knew that may have nothing to do with the egg color they will lay, but I was hopeful ;)

They are both 24 weeks 3 days old...hoping they all start soon, I could get used to this color :)
