EE'S or Black Austuralorps?

I have two BA's and two EE's. In my opinion: get both! lol

I have some of each and would recommend either...we have BA and BAxBlack Ameraucana EE s. I love them all and get brown, blue green and olive eggs. Great layers! We consistently get between 5 and 8 eggs a day from our 8 girls. Our best layer is one of the EE s...an egg a day since she started laying in October. Nice birds with friendly peronalities.

I have to agree with everyone... get both. My one A is super sweet but I think if I had a bunch they would all look alike... EE's are so pretty and outgoing and lay pretty eggs... that is why I got more!

I don't know about the BAs, but my EEs are the best little girls ever! So very smart, goofy, and petlike. They like their snuggles and have very different personalities from each other. And when you gather their eggs it is just fun.

But a mix is nice too... I'm happy for my Marans, but they aren't as friendly.

Of my EE's, BA's and WR's the astrolorps are a lot more talkative. When ever I take care of them or just walk by they always have something to tell me. Seems like it anyway. The others are friendly don't get me wrong they are just quiet. My adopted roo, on the other hand is always complaining about something, and that eye on the back of your head always has to be open. Just can't trust him. Love them all! rj

Definitely both. I have 1 BA and 2 EE's. The BA is just a gorgeous chicken- mine however isn't as nice as some of the ones described here. She is a bit...bossy and sometimes nasty (to the other chickens, not to us). The EE's just lay the coolest eggs ever. Mine have been laying for months but it's still so fun to go out there and see green eggs in the nest box.

EEs are pretty and colorful and black goes well with everything. Get both, no sense in denying yourself the happiness of more chickens.

I would also say get both. I have EE's. They are very sweet and have lots of energy. Mine can fly ..even AFTER they have had a wing clipping. They have learned to stay in the fence. I do love their colored eggs. However, I would like more eggs. EE's seem to take a break in the winter. I have heard the Aust. are great winter layers. I am thinking of getting a dew of those myself.
