Egg and Timing Advice Please?

Hi Guys,

I am new to BYC and Peafowl, but I was wandering if you guys can help me with a problem. This last Tuesday (21) I put three of my peahen eggs under one of my broody chickens, but this last Wednesday and Saturday (22 & 25) I put another three eggs under this hen. Do you guys have any advice on how to get all six peahen eggs to hatch (I know that there is a chance that some of them are no good)? Somebody said that I could take some of the older eggs out for a day or so and let the younger eggs stay under the hen and catch up in time. What do you guys think?

This will be my first time hatching eggs so any help will help

No,,, the birds will die in the shell, you dont catch up with this method. Watch at around 26 days and take the first ones out if they dont hatch by 30 days..

So Connerhill was saying this and to watch the eggs starting on the 26th day as they hatch remove the chicks and the hen will continue to sit on the remaining eggs. If any of the first 3 eggs do not hatch by day 30 remove them as they are no good. Place the chicks as they hatch in a brooder so they are warm and have food and water.

Ok that makes since!!!!! Do you think I could put the hen in the brooder with the chicks once I give all the eggs a chance to hatch?

no leave the hen out. You just want her to hatch them for you. Once they hatch put them in the brooder. Keep them off the ground for about 5-6 months. This is so they do not get blackhead or Coccidia. Once they touch the ground then in a few days you need to worm them with SafeGuard liquid for goats and some Ivermectin pour on for cattle. But you do not need to worry about that right now LOL.

You could, but *I* would make sure that the was no chance of the my hen having cecal worms or the blackhead protozoa, so I would deworm mine and also give 5 days of metronidazole.

Disclaimer: This is only my second year hatching peas and the first was disastrous due to problems with blackhead. I will do things differently this year.
