My 18 mth old hen is showing signs of egg binding, (standing or laying in or near nesting box puffed up missing feathers near vent and trying to lay her vent is pulsing and swollen) I have put Vasaline around area held over steam bath and soaked back end in warm water for 20 min. I felt in the vent but couldn't feel an egg some fluid came out after yellowish but not yolk like. should i be able to feel the stuck egg? What do i do now I have put her in a seperate pen because the other hens are pecking her. she is not eating and i am dipping her beak in water to make her drink. needless to say I am worried that she won't make it and hope someone has some advice (hate to see her in pain)
