Egg bound Button Quail, may be prolapsing. In distress now.

Put some milk in a container and put a little bit of water in it to weaken the milk a little bit feed the milk mixture to the quail using a dropper.
Just thought about it, I dont use milk. Only cashew, almond and oat milk. Got some powdered creamer if ever to run out of my nut milks, but think its got additives in it. I only keep that in case I ever completely run out of my nut milks.

So glad to hear she is on the up. Hopefully the next egg will wait a little while and not give her so much bother. I don't know if you can suppress her laying with daylight reduction for a couple of weeks to help her heal first? No idea if that would work, but I'm just thinking aloud.

Love her new name!! 😉

So Zena is doing pretty good. Still gently cleaning her injury several times daily and topping with neosporin. She sits down to sleep and paces because she wants to go with her flock mates. No egg palpated today which is good. No signs of infection, but still at great risk.

Truly this bird is a little fighter, if that isn't obvious enough! Honestly, the injury site looks much better than before. I have high Hope that she'll pull thru. Good luck mrs.zena❤

Well, for the moment, think she needs the light since the injury been so recent. What’s it been now maybe going on 3 days. I will be sending updated pictures to Garrie Landry tomorrow as long as she show positive progress. I don’t want to bother him more than necessary since he’s so busy. My small flock is his eggs and hatched all 🐣 9 of my birds all beauties.

And this is the only true tame out of the 9, a blue face female. Her name is very original, Blackie. Very sweet girl.

I can’t thank all of you enough for immediate responses with our emergency. You all really helped with your experience and suggestions as well as the added support given by those who couldn’t make a suggestion.

I guess it’s time to move back to the regular threads since it appears our emergency has passed and hopefully stays that way.🙏

Myself and little Zena Thank you♥🤗👍

Another thing you can do to insure this doesn't occur again is to give these birds time on the ground on a regular basis. Besides sunlight for absorption of vitamin D which helps absorption of calcium, exercise in the form of running around on the ground will help improve calcium absorption.
