Egg Bound Chicken with Prolapse?

Hi All,

Has anyone ever dealt with this with your chickens? We have one hen that has a white mass protruding from her back side, which seems to be an egg still in the tube, with the entire thing prolapsed. I don't have pictures, but I have given her a couple warm baths, massaged the area, and applied KY jelly. That doesn't seem to be helping, and she isn't eating and seemingly getting worse. Anything anyone recommends that I do?

Wash it off and try to push it back in. You could carefully break the egg (infection is a real chance if the yolk gets in the tract) and then get the pieces out. You could put some Preparation H on to help it shrink back in. The most important thing is getting the egg out. Keep the prolapse moist and clean and keep her away from other chickens.
