Egg Bound? Dead Chick with Swollen Vent

I just found one of the chickens dead in the coop today. She was in surprisingly good shape, not signs of injury and not thin at all. However, upon further inspection, I noticed that her vent appeared to be swollen shut. Could this be egg binding? For the past couple days she seems paler, hunched up (not peguin style though), and I bit lethargic. But not to the point where she was isolating herself from the rest of the flock.

It could have been egg binding. You could do a necropsy on her body, and open the abdomen and vent to have a look. Chickens can also have tumors and lash egg material from salpingitis, that can sometimes block the vent. Very sorry for your loss.

I already buried her so no necropsy. I didn't think of lash eggs, thank you.
