Egg bound!! FINAL UPDATE 10:30 3/3am ******* PICS!!! pg 3 ***********

I am glad that everything worked out for you. I have been giving my girls oyster shell ever since I read this yesterday, just in case they need it.

hawtchick, soooo glad to hear your hen made it! I've been like an expectant mother wondering the out come! Will be looking for egg pics. I couldn't be more pleased for you!

I was reading this thread yesterday but didn't post because I had no advice for you. My chicks aren't anywhere near egg-laying age yet so I have no experience with this stuff. But I was so worried about her and you. You did a great job taking care of her, and you should be proud of yourself

I had a chick that seemed like he wasn't going to make it...he wasn't eating or drinking and he looked bad. I had no idea what was wrong with him, but I gave him vitamins and water in his beak, and I prepared the kids for him possibly not living through the night. Well, next morning, he was up and walking and eating and drinking with the rest of them. I was shocked and so happy!!! So I know that's how you felt when you saw your girl doing so much better this morning.

here are the eggs...... No wonder she was a hurtin unit..literally!!

I added one of her usual ones to use as a guide as to how much bigger this one was.

holy-moly!! thats is a big difference....what is that yucky stuff all over it?

does that mean its a double yolker? or just one big egg...are you going to incubate it?

It was blood and gunk. and a piece of a leaf I think. I wasn't going to incubate it, I don't know WHAT to do with it.

anyone?????

Beyond taking a picture of it, I would throw it away.

That poor hen.
It looks like it was stuck in her by the pattern of dried blood on the large one.
Too bad she can't take a few weeks off.

I would keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't develop an infection since there was obvious trauma.
