I have my girl in a hot bath as I type. She has been ago bound and nothing I've done has helped. The egg seems to be sideways. Can I somehow turn it? Yesterday I could see the egg when I opened her vent, but now it's all swollen and although I can feel it, I can't see it. I looked at prolapse, and it's not that, I think it's all just sore and swollen.

How do you manually turn a chickens egg without breaking it? And without making the swelling worse, or doing more damage

In a last resort you could carefully puncture the egg and sick the inside out with a syringe. Then you could carefully mash the shell together making sure it doesn't cut her insides.

Continue soaking her in WARM water, not hot bath. Massage her underside front to rear for about 20 minutes while she's soaking. Then put on a disposable glove and put olive oil on one finger and insert your finger into her vent checking for debris. Remove your finger and put olive oil just inside her vent. The warm water will relax and expand her innards, massaging will help move the egg along in the oviduct. Finger inside her vent stretches it and olive oil makes it easier to for her to lay the egg.
