Egg Bound? Help Needed.

Message her abdomen and give her sugar water..You will be able the feel the egg just by messaging.....KEEP HER WARM!!!!!!! If the abdomen feels kind of grainy ( i Don't know how to descibe=()
It DOES NOT always mean the egg is broken it might just be soft! If you can feel the egg start messaging from the rear of the egg toward the front (vent) It has worked everytime for my eggbound hen....Hope this helps!!!!!

how is she doing?  Any better.  I hope she pulls through.
She's not any worse. She is eating easier when I feed her. It's a process. I feed her just a bit of the mixture at a time. 1/3 chick starter, 2/3 medicated water. She had a decent sized crop when I just put her to bed. I don't want to get my hopes up yet. I am getting her stronger antibiotics tomorrow. I think it may be infection from the egg that I found broken in their pen. It appears very similar to the girl I lost from that. Though Olive was prolapsed on top of the infection.

I will update if I see any improvements. I am worried about being away from her tomorrow. Right now we are feeding her every few hours. I'll have to feed her enough to last 8 hours. :S That's scary.

Well, at least she is taking something. Hopefully as long as she has access to water, she will be fine for the 8 hours. Taking care of sick babies (furry, fluffy or human) is exhausting. Your in my thoughts and prayers.

She's improving! More alert. And she is still with us, so that is a good sign. I've been feeding her religiously and she has antibiotics in her feed to fight any possible infection.

I am now a little more positive of her outcome. She is still not out of the woods yet. I will continue what I am doing until she is ready to eat/drink and roost on her own.

She's roosting, eating on her own and pooping REGULAR poops! It's honestly a miracle. I am so happy that she is thriving. Still keeping her inside until she is absolutely back to normal. :D

Oh I was so afraid I was going to lose her! We've named her Gertie. She's earned a place in our hearts over the past week. What a sweet girl.

Yeah! So glad she is healthy. Your houdans look great on the thread as well. I am waiting on my girl to lay. No signs yet at 21 weeks. My Araucana began laying last week and we have the cutest tiny blue egg in with all our brown ones now.

Hope all your babies stay healthy. See you on the Houdan thread.

What ARE the symptoms of egg bound.?

My 8 some my 8 girls just just started laying 2 weeks ago ...hthers the brahamas i think are tring today. One was making a lot of noice and reall y yelling in a differnt way than the pothers have. ..then got quieter in her clucking and then stopped. i did find an egg but they all 8 share the same 3 nests so dont know who it was. Would she stop laying if she was?

She is back to 100% normal. With her sisters now :D Sooo happy to see her back to normal. She was just chowing down her food on Friday before I let her go back and last night her crop was full from eating and she was snuggled up to her sisters in their little sleeping nook :love
