Good evening
I am new in the forum and new to keeping chickens. I have five 18 month old ladies and my golden sexlink did not come out of the run this morning when I let everyone out. She was puffed up in the corner and she kept dozing off, very lethargic. She was straining and squatting and when she did finally poop it was white and foamy. I googled her symptoms and figured she was egg bound, she's a tiny hen and lays huge eggs...and she the last of my girls to molt. She's slowed down laying eggs lately and I figured it was her turn to molt as everyone else has already. I ran up to the house and gathered a crate and set myself up to soak her in the tub, but when I went back to the coop to get her there was half an egg shell on the ground of the coop plus what looked like a whole yolk/white in the nesting box. Gigi is her name, and she was out and running with the other ladies. There's nothing around her vent and her feathers are clean....my question is should I still soak her in the bath? Do chickens pass the whole egg even if it broke inside? I've read about infection and even though she seems 100 times better I'm worried she might get sick still. Any knowledge is greatly appreciated thank you!!
