My hen is not in the classic penguin pose of a eggbound hen however she has been on the nest, basically nonstop except for sleep and a few very small breaks, for all day yesterday and so far today (9 AM-8:00 PM)

Her vent is pulsating a lot and she is eating little to none, (maybe some small bites) she is pooping tiny tiny pebbles very little, with much effort.

Treatment so far: Around 6:30 today i inserted vaseline into her vent, it went in easily but now after a warm epsom soak for about 15 minutes, it seems to be harder to insert, yet no egg. What should i do for her? I offered crushed eggshells and she ate a few, but very minimal. I’m worried she will pass since she is barely eating at all and can’t defecate properly.

Until more experienced people get here, I'll just say can you get her more calcium?
Ideally calcium +D3 tablets, and pop one down her beak.

I’m so sorry! I would give her lots of epsom salt baths and crush up some egg shells and and there crumble and put egg yolks in and mix you can put some water in too, then put little drops on each side of her beek you can do this multiple times, definitely give her more epsom salt baths and slowly try and help the broken egg out of her vent, I hope this helped and I hope she’s better soon!

You can also put some calcium in the mix!

Thank you! I was worried to give her food because i didn’t know if it would cause more of a blockage. I just gave her some calcium water.

No luck with an egg. She slept inside with me yesterday on the bed and was very comfy, however she is pooping seemingly normal, has a appetite, though not nearly as much as before. She ate some worms, grapes, and a little mash (chicken feed + some electrolyte digestive water) some grass and such, too.

I am worried, though. Before, she was CRAZY about food, a total nut, and the top of the pecking order. Her “kiss up” Isbe adores her and always has, and never dares to steal food. However it seems somewhat recently, and noticeably today, Isbe steals food from her and doesn’t really cower to her like before. I’m worried Rizo will get pushed down from Isbe.

I don’t know how much of a eggbound emergancy this is, though. She seems noticeably off so i say an egg would be stuck but she is pooping and i had no luck with getting it out, she also didn’t run to the nest today, what should i do?

Thanks.

Have you tried having a careful feel for the egg?
Pooping is a good sign, but there must be something making her feel bad.
I'll tag @coach723 and @azygous, because I'm a bit out of my depth here.
