So i went out to take care of my hens and noticed one was acting strange and when she got up yellow string mucous was hanging from her butt feathers and she was not interested in eating at all. So i put a glove on and put some bag balm on it and looked and felt but i dont know if i went through her egg or butt hole but i didnt feel anything but flesh no eggs and no blood came out and neither did poop i went about 1inch in. Her poop was yellow clear mucous then after i gave her a 15 minute soak in the bath her poop looked normal. I ground up eggshells and cooked them in with eggs and she ate a few. I was wanting to get her some medicine i just dont know what kind. Thank you!

How is she doing now?
How old is she?

Just keep an eye on her she may have passed a soft shell/shell-less egg.
Encourage her to drink and offer some wet feed - you can add egg to it if you like.

If you haven't done so, offer oyster shell free choice to your laying hens for extra calcium - they will take what they need.
