Egg bound hen possibly? When I was watering the chickens today I noticed that one of the hens had no feathers below her vent when I looked closer I could see a slight bulge below the vent at first I thought it was egg bound but now I'm not so sure ? It looks like a egg but when you touch it it's soft and squishy she is eating and drinking normally and was running around with the rest of the chickens for now we have her isolated in a 50 gallon tote with food and water she also keeps straining like she is trying to lay an egg but can't please help we have no idea what is going on

Update. She is still the same do you think it is fluid? Do we need to drain it?

I am sorry you have not received a response. It could be from a number of things (fatty deposit, fluid, etc.) If you answer a couple questions, we can better help you.
1. How old is she?
2. What does she eat?
3. When did she last lay an egg?
4. Is her breast well muscled?

Let’s start with these four questions and go from there.

The bulge has decreased in size with warm bath and massage.
Age 2-3yo
Eats free range, laying pellets, whole layer food, calcium shells, DE,scraps, laid egg today
Poor weight
Back story....I bought a flock from someone and birds were not in the best of shape.

We have had her for about 2 weeks
Poop looks watery not sure about a vet in the area that does that
