I have a black australorpe who has not layed an egg for a few weeks. She is about 7-8 months old and started laying early january. I went to check the hens today for mites, etc, and noticed she had a large mass almost directly forward from her vent. It is not protruding, but rather when I gently squeeze her I feel it. Her vent has what appears like egg white slowly oozing out of it. Suggestions/advice please!! I'm new to chickens and this is my first emergency.

It sounds perhaps like an egg broke inside her, but I don't know for sure and I'm not sure what you do for that. If she was simply eggbound you could give her a nice warm bath to loosen her up, but if the egg has broken, I'm not sure...

Hopefully someone will come along soon with a more definitive answer.
