I noticed a few days ago flan my 1 1/2 year old Rhode island red stop laying eggs. I thought maybe she was beginning to molt or something. But then I noticed she go in the box to lay but nothing would happen. I asked my daughter how my eggs has she been collecting. She said only 4.
Today I noticed she was laying in her box again as if to lay but she was in there for hours. I brought our worms but she never came out.( I faithfully check them at least once a week). When I grabbed her she was soaking wet under neith. And her pouch if you wanna call it that was warm and looked bigger than usual. I squeezed a bit and liquid squirted out. I felt around to see if there was an egg stuck.
I took her a warm bath and cleaned her up a bit and rubbed her bottom. Then I notice her anal duct looked as to be protruding.

What to do? I wrapped her up and she pooped on me and my daughter this time it looked like tissues In it...
What to do

Sounds like possible mild prolapse and a broken egg. Shell-less eggs can be difficult to lay but hopefully she will oas all of it fine if the was a shell there may be internal complications. Get her some extra calcium, keep her clean and keep an eye on her.

Oh and pics would be helpful but if it is prolapsed you needed to try to push it back into place. You'll needed help from someone more experienced with how to do that

Sad to say my girl Flan had cancer. She had most of the symptoms of an egg bound amd prolapsed vent but other things where going on. As we looked at her xray in tears and shock. You can clearly see the change in her anatomy from last year to this year.
The dr diagnosis was cancer and I spread everywhere in short time. My poor baby my heart broke. As a family we decided to put her to sleep a decision I was sad to make. She was more than just out pet she was part of our family.
