I'm sorry your RIR did not make it. Considering her belly was kind of swollen, she may have had Egg Yolk Peritonitis (EYP), which really does not have any treatment options anyways. The good new at least is that it is not contagious. That first thread that you were on where the original poster thought that her hen was egg bound ended up taking it to the vet and found out she had EYP.
As far as your newbies, I would recommend the same as iwiw60 if it is possible. Or else keep them in the dog crate for a while longer. And when you do introduce them have an extra feeder and water bowl. If you can put in an extra roost in the coop that might also be helpful, considering roost time can result in squabbles and pecks.
