Hey guys, there's this hen named Penny at the petting farm I work at.
Long story short basically, I found her walking like a penguin and took her in and gave her a warm Epsom salt bath. This trick never works for me, I dont know what I am doing wrong lol. In between her legs almost is very swollen. Not just the size of an egg. I have only dealt with this once with my own chickens, which failed. What else can I do for her? Thanks!

Give her a human calcium tablet with vitamin d3 300-600 mg or a Tums orally (break the Tums in half.) That may help if she is having trouble passing an egg or a lash egg. Do no more soaks. Place her on a warm towel. If she is not egg bound, she may have a reproductive infection or salpingitis where she has lash material is collecting inside her abdomen.

Thank you so much. I will inform my manager. Here's another picture of the swollen area. I can hear her breathing loudly like she is in pain.

Hens with reproductive disorders or cancer can develop water belly as well. Egg yolk peritonitis is often a result of the reproductive disorders. I would give the calcium, and offer her food and water. If she seems to be suffering, you may want to consider putting her down. Most of us don’t know exactly what problems these hens have, but when they die, the best thing to do is a necropsy to view the abdominal organs. You can do one at home or send the body in to the state vet lab for a more thorough necropsy. Here is a list of state labs:
