What is egg bound and how do you come to the conclusion a bird is egg bound? I have experienced broody and know pretty much how they behave being broody. We have a pullet(head hen) Chanel who seems to be on the best box way over her normal time for her...I will say that I have added a second box that was designed for 2 girls at once but has turned into a one girl retreat. I'm not concerned(yet) about her actions terribly just looking for advice. It has been and is in high double digits and heat index of 105 to 109 for a couple weeks now. There is plenty of cold drinking water and multiple wading pools and lots of shade...inquiring minds seeking information.

It's really warm here 95 plus....we like to call it Spa time. We have an orpington that likes to take her time every once in a while. In beginning to think it's a game..."I'm on the nest and YOU'RE NOT COMING IN" she is the head hen/pullet. We have littles that are starting to lay now as well so its a nesting box shake up.
