egg bound

I have a fawnrunner who I believe has been egg bound for 6 days. She's 5 mos. old. she laid 4 eggs, 4 days in a row, the 4th was a very large, 3 yolk egg. Later that day I could tell something was wrong. After 2 days she was pretty bad, I was doing the warms baths and gently massaging her belly. I can feel something in there. she rebounded, I thought she was going to be ok, but now day 6, she's not doing well again. I read they can die in 24-48hrs if not treated. Is it normal for her to make it 6 days and counting? could it be something else?

I had a friend who culled an ill hen (didn’t know what was wrong with it) and found six (might have been seven but I’m pretty sure it was six) fully formed eggs insider of her. So yeah, I’d say it’s possible. Surprising to me though

Go to TSC and get Calcium Gluconate and start her on 1 ml if she is eating put it over a small amount of treat just make sure she gets full dose. If she isn't eating give it by mouth which is better anyway then you know for sure she is getting full dose you might have to dose her many days until the egg comes out, hopefully not though.

Thanks Lydia, I gave her Calcium Gluconate last night by mouth. Should I do it once per day, or more often than that? It's been almost 2 weeks from when I first thought she was egg bound, after many warm baths, 3 "gloved ups", I really hope this CG works. I've seen nothing come out of her, She's trying to keep up with the others, eating but not much, she's losing weight. Is it possible it's something else?

It may not be a egg issues usually if egg-bound and not able to lay they don't last long. Do you notice her spending anytime where eggs are laid? She could have an infection or be internally laying About the only way to know for sure would be a vet visit. It won't hurt to continue with Cal glu through the rest of this week at least. How does her poop look? you might want to keep her separated so you can check her eating and pooping and there is always tube feeding if she isn't eating.
