Don't know if this is the right place to post this?

I know with exotic birds you can help to "avoid" a bird becoming egg bound by providing lots of veggies, fruits, and water. Is there anything we can do as "chicken lovers" to help to prevent this?? I have years of experience with exotics but feel like a total bird brain when it comes to chickens..

I would assume the same is true up to a certain point. The difference being that the exotic birds you have worked with have not gone through the genetic manipulation by humans that created the "power layers" most likely to have this problem. Here we are not talking about wild animals having typical survival issues, we are talking about an organism that has experienced more than a thousand years of manipulation for high production.
