This is after an Epsom salt soak. Been waddling/penguin walk. Firm bottom, poor appetite. Been going on for about a month. Nothing felt on digital exam. Any suggestions?

Wow! A month! I was freaking out after 3 days but my girl passed her broken egg... I was researching for it a while so I read a few things I wasn't really brave enough to try. You could try searching specifics, but one thing I read was to put KY jelly or olive oil in the vent to help lubricate, although the olive oil could go rancid? Another option I read, is to carefully implode the egg, suck out the contents and remove the broken shell which is hopefully still stuck to the membrane, and to flush out any pieces. I couldn't really imagine myself doing that, it's just what I read so... Maybe someone else with experience can chime in >_<

A lot of people separate the birds, put them in a box or a dog crate, that way you can keep track of their poops and how much they eat. I think it's ok as long as she keeps eating and pooping but it doesn't sound pleasant. I think if it's been a month, the imploding egg idea doesn't sound good either cause the inside of the egg could be rancid? Well those are my thoughts, just do searches here for egg bound and what people have done and good luck ;0

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been lubing her vent with vaseline. I really can't feel anything from the outside or inside. Just feels real firm. I have tried to implode with no luck. She was in a crate but seemed depressed. No vet in the area treat chickens. My fiance thinks I'm nuts. Lol

That's frustrating I'm sorry blusky ;(
Maybe the egg is already broken, like it was for my hen? Except she didn't walk funny, just fluffed and acted depressed...

This week one of my hens was holding tail down and Sad. ..next say a soft egg broke inside..YUCK! Took her to Vet and she did digital exam and said had a huge egg still inside. cleaned out some gunk and another exam....and was carrying her to back and the egg fell out!...she told me she needed calcium. I have read that just a exam with hurry things along.

True, I have noticed that stimulating their insides sometimes helps move stuff along.

Might have gotten an egg from my troubled layer. Though I think her starving herself a bit during those rough days resulted in a bit of a molt ;0
