You can't. There are a ton of old-wives tales and urban legends about it, but regardless of what "method" you use you have a 50/50 chance of being right. If there was a reliable way to tell the hatcheries wouldn't hatch out so many male chicks.

Unfortunately decades of poultry research has not discovered how to do this yet.
