I'm not a vet, but she doesn't sound like she needs draining to me. I used to only drain my internal layer when she would start waddling and have trouble getting to her roost.I have her in a hospital crate and when I let her out she doesn’t move too much but she’s scratching normally. Her stance isn’t effected. She can still perch on my arm and today she flew on top of the crate while I was drying her after an epsom bath.
