Egg Cartons or Not?

I use egg cartons to hatch my ducks, but I had these chicken eggs laying flat and turned them that way. Do I put them in egg cartons to hatch or leave them laying down on the bottom of the incubator??????

I used to swear by egg cartons. However I read some where on here that their hatch rate improved when they stopped using them. Sure enough my hatch rate has improved.

I like them for my duck eggs that are on a swivel type incubator, but this one rolls them from the bottom, so Maybe it is not a good idea. Incubator bottom is pretty slippery though I can see them really rolling around. Seems like they'd get in one position to work on getting out and then wham they'd be rolling across the incubator. I don't know

I've always hatch on the wire without any problems. I get 100% hatches at times and yes that is from shipped eggs and my own hatching eggs.. Chicks knocking the eggs around does not cause eggs to not hatch out. There are too many other things that can go wrong inside an egg, such as as weak chicks that can not make it out on their own.

They started rolling the minute I set them down, so not monkeying with them now... they are on their sides. I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you put the eggs in small end down or big end for a carton

I hand turn mine on their side and didn't like the fact of changing them to right side up for lockdown.
I use the paper towel roll method. It has worked for me for 5 hatches and not one problem. I turn them
fat end up a little for lockdown
