egg changed color ?

Acutally, a white egg is possible from a blue egg layer... just as a darker blue can happen as well... yes, the pigment is inside the shell itself, but I have seen where it didn't get evenly distributed and was darker at one end and lighter at the other... I've also gotten an extremely pale egg I could have sworn was white, but with very close inspection it had just a bare hint of blue...

Just as brown egg layers can run out of paint, or have 'malfunctions' in the coating amounts, so can blue egg layers have pigment mixture issues...
Yes, I've seen a variance in the intensity and distribution of the blue shell pigment,
but never truly white.

End of cycle or hiccups can cause interesting changes... also, every persons perception can be different...

Here's a neat experiment... leave a blue egg in direct sunlight for a day, when there is high UV intensity... blue eggs will sun bleach to completely white... ;)

It was a weird egg in the middle of a weird cycle. The day before the white egg she laid a shell less. The day after the white egg she had a really hard time laying,I finally ended up putting her in a warm tub where she laid her normal egg. There was an issue going on. It hasn't happened since.

Will try that...and save the other half inside out of the sun.
All the 'white' blue eggs I've seen have shown blue once put on a white sheet of paper,
have had many that appear white, but aren't..... most often once I opened them to eat, the white of inner membrane was enough contrast to show the pale blue of the shell itself.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but very rare I would think.

Chickens are not recommend for sane individuals.Do not attempt to operate heavy machinery while using chickens. Chickens may cause high blood pressure in some individuals. Chickens may cause itching, blurred vision, facial tics. If you experience any of these side effects immediately get more chickens.

Sounds alot like me! Love it!
