I have golden comets that are nine months old now. I have noticed they have a higher white to yolk ratio than store bought eggs. The
yolks are also orange with quite a bit of integrity. They are creamier than regular eggs but sometimes I think they are bland. Maybe I am being overyly critical since they are my eggs. I know diet plays an important role but was wondering if some breeds lay eggs that are truly tastier than others? For instance I was told that quail eggs have a sweet taste. Do some breeds have a higher yolk to white ratio and vice versa? I feed Purina Layena and give them just enough scratch to get them from one place to another or engage them for a little while. They get greens, apples, brocolli for a treat in the late afternoon. The grass is pretty much nill right now. Is there something I can feed them to produce a tastier egg or should I up the greens to twice a day.
