For those of you that have both Buff Orpington and Barred Rock--How close are they in color?? I am trying to figure out who else is laying...

One of my BRs has been laying for over two weeks--I know it's her, I caught her in the act several times--Her egg is a very pinkish tan. One of my RIR started laying four days ago and her egg is very brown--the color of store bought brown eggs--I have also caught her coming off the nest twice...nice warm brown egg, in the box!

Today, I have THREE eggs [IMG] ..One from my RIR (I just happened to be there when she came off the nest) and two the exact same color as the BRs other eggs...

    Thank you for any help...Dixie

Well...... I don't know. LOL Yeah, I'm real helpful!

Seriously... I have 5 new pullets. 2 EEers, 1 BR, 1RIR, and 1 BO. I know both EEers are laying (i get mint and olive eggs). The darker brown egg I'm pretty sure is the RIR. And I get a lighter brown egg. Not sure if it is from the BO or the BR... or they both look just alike and are alternating days. I know the BR has been in the box. DH has seen her in there, but I really thought my BO would be one of the first to lay (she was redder first).

But with my older hens, the only ones I can tell apart are my Australorp, my Brahma, and the guinea. All the rest look exactly the same. And I have BR, 2 RSL, and a buff ? mix in there.
