Is it abnormally large or small? Is it cracked at all? Sometimes they do breed a little while laying. How much blood is on it?

The egg is normal size and it is not cracked but the blood covers a good portion of the shell

Is the egg smooth? are you giving them a source of calcium? Do you have any pictures of the egg in question?

Doesn't look too bad... that might actually be a young hen and not an old hen. A lot of times the blood can happen with young hens who are laying their first eggs. If she is looking and acting healthy, then things are probably ok. Just make sure you give her oyster shells or some other source of calcium if she is laying eggs and breeding.
