egg crates

If you use egg crates for nest boxes do you put them in upright or do you lay them on their sides? Or does it make a difference?

on the sides and put something at the bottom to hold in the bedding

What is an egg crate? Is that what large egg producers deliver the eggs in to the grocery store? What are their dimensions?

I meant milk crate. Have eggs on the brain, I guess.

LOL. That is what I read at first. But then I thought eggs must be transported in something and perhaps you had found a supply of whatever that is!

i put on in my chicken hutch the other day upright.. so they jump into it from the top... my leghorn laid in it for 3 or 4 days..when she didn't want to leave the run area becasue it was windy and cold... today she was back to the nest cage on ym front porch..
i tried it on it's side, and they just had too much fun kicking hte hay out of it.. and my neighbor keeps his upright so i decided ot give it a try...
