I was checking on the eggs in the incubator making sure the water trays were filled. Its a dry still air incubator. Well one of my eggs was broken I sitting up, inside ways a chick moving. But its not ready to hatch yet! Its about 15 days old maybe a little older or younger. Can it survive? It is a pheasant chick egg. For now since its still moving, I put it back in the incubator away from the main coil on a electrical tape role. Setting it up like Easter eggs on the card board holders. But can it survive like this?

Most likely not, but strange things do happen. Do you know what broke the egg? I'd be worried that more eggs would be broken. The egg turner?

No theres just a wire mesh they all sit on. Its a Styrofoam incubator with a couple slots for water to keep the humidity up. No others where broken yet. Im going to go check on it now, its been a little while and I just got back home.

Edit: I just checked on it and if I tap the side of the egg a little, itll start to move its feet.

Odd to say the least; you have no idea why the egg broke? These eggs are being turned by hand? 15 days is to soon; just wait and see. I know of no specie of pheasant that hatches that early. What kind are they? Good luck.

I dont really know how, it may have been cracked and when i picked it up the shell by the air pocket area fell away. There not ready to hatch, that I know. I do turn them by hand but I don't pick them up, I gently move my hand in a circle and roll them all . There at that stage though of 15 days. And there ring neck pheasants, a different color morph.

If I remember rightly it takes 23 days for ring necks to hatch. At 15 days there's very little chance the chick will survive. Cracked eggs rarely develop; but it does happen. Strange.
