Have you ever had egg eaters that eat the ENTIRE egg leaving no shells? We have quite a few chickens so it's harder for me to monitor.. especially because they all lay at different times of the day.

The only evidence I might see is just egg white goo mixed in with shavings.. BUT, this could be from a chicken that I know lays shelless eggs once in a while.

I have never had an egg eater, but would think there would be more evidence - they would have to peck it and you should see yolk, white and some shell not eaten

My girls devour shell and all. When I find an egg under roosts broken or cracked, or a thin shelled egg broken in nest. I drop it in their pen and they devour everything. They will fight over the shell. GC

And they clean it all up with no evidence?

Edited to add, not criticizing, just trying to learn :)

I am a little suspicious of some new chickens I got, as they were not treated well and lacked a lot of nutrition... I think I will try some egg eater tactics and see if I get more eggs... or maybe it's all a coincidence and they're just molting

Maybe offer them some extra protein? Hope you don't have egg eaters.

Often find only a wet spot in nest or on poop board.
Wasn't sure until I caught one dashing out of nest with shell in beak,
then I confirmed that shell was thin and thus easily broken.
Even tho they were on high protein feed and plenty of oyster shell available.
Found the bird laying the thin shells and she went into the stew pot at cull time,
meanwhile just tried to gather often...hated having to clean nests and have egg remains on 'good' eggs.
