I bought 5 delawares, 4 hens and 1 rooster. I have them in a kiddie pool with fencing around it. Well it's seems that the rooster is eating the eggs. There is no nest per se', they just lay them on the floor.
I moved 3 hens to another pool, cause I wasn't sure the other really was a hen, but she is cause she laid an egg today and it got eaten.
Is it possible he would go in the nest and eat eggs? Any chance he's just doing it because they're on the floor and easy pickin's?
I've e-mailed the woman who sold him to me and asked but I doubt she'll reply. She was originally only going to sell me the roo but keep the hens. Then when I got to her place 21/2 hrs. away, her hus, said she wanted to know if I wanted them all.
I really need to know cause how can I get rid of him to someone else if I think he's and egg eater? What if I chop off his head and he's doing this just cause the eggs are on the floor?
Heeeellllllllllllllppppppppppp!
