Egg eater or just testing?

They lay ever 24-27 hours. Or at least that is what I have found.
New layer can lay for a couple days then stop.

Light Brahmas are "aloof" - I think that's exactly right.

One of the wise folks said that they have kinks in their plumbing. I've read that up to 40% of their first ova are reabsorbed so you can't really be sure what kind of layers they will be during their first few weeks.

Their first few eggs may be nothing like the ones a couple weeks down the road. But, you will have enuf for omelets in no time

Go figure! I can't wait until everything gets all worked out!

One of my hens pecked her first egg, nothing since then. Make sure they have enough calcium (like ground oystershell) so those eggs are good and hard! I also put a rock in her nest for a while.

I like the rock idea. I may have to try that! I didn't get anymore eggs today except for the pecked one so I will have to check tomorrow! They do have a double wall feeder with half oyster shells and half grit that they can free choice. They are also on Layena that I started about 1 1/2 weeks ago when they ran out of their other food.
