Egg eater

I don't think it is one of my hens,never found a trace of an eaten egg, but I've been getting 3-4 eggs a day steadily for a couple of months, with 5 hens. Will squirrels eat eggs? Maybe a snake? the biggest opening is maybe 2 inches.
I have three strands of hot wire.
Any suggestions?

Yes, a snake will swallow an egg whole. Also if it's super hot and humid, sometimes their egg production goes down a bit......Stress can make egg production go down as well....For example, a new dog barking alot next door....things like that.

Actually, with five hens, 3-4 eggs per day isn't bad at all. You may have one or two that just lay every other day......Some chicken breeds don't lay daily.....Some breeds are very poor layers.
