Egg Eating

So I thought my egg production was down due to the excessive heat we are having. But... yesterday I was sitting with the chickers and I heard strange sounds in the coop. I open the doors and sit to watch and see what goes on inside... I notice many were very interested in one of the nest boxes. Next thing you know they were eating one of my big girl eggs. Oh I was fit to be tied, too bad they don't learn from being yelled at..... How do I break this behavior??? Thank you.

Roll out nests are sometimes effective at keeping them from having access. The crockpot can also be an effective measure. Hanging out in the coop and collecting each egg as it is laid would also work. Unfortunately, breaking them of the habit is often not possible. Sorry....
