Egg fertility question

You're right, it isn't as easy as it sounds. My old eyes have a bit of trouble. Sometimes I use a magnifying glass.
The blastodisc/blastoderm are not always on top so it is sometimes necessary to flip the yolk gently.
I'm looking forward to hearing how long before you get a yolk with a balstoderm.
Sounds like some sort of Power Rangers / Transformers character.

I’ll keep the group updated as changes occur. The first time, I used a spoon and messed with it until it broke. Next egg will be flipped like Mosey suggested and pour in my hand. I’m up in age, but still like to learn about the birds. Thanks to you all.

It's been awhile since I've checked any, but I think I usually took the top off the egg and looked at the yolk even before I dumped it in the bowl, sometimes you'll have it showing up top nicely for you.

I usually break them into a ramekin...
....when I don't need to look for fertility, it's right on top!

If one collects eggs for the incubator and manually turn the eggs 2 or 3 times a day, how long will the eggs remain hatchable?
Thanks for any help you may give us.

After about 7-10 days viability can start to decrease.
Keep them at about 50-60°F, fat end up, I just prop the carton at opposite ends once a day.

Hi Folks,
I just wanted to take a minute to say MERRY CHRISTMAS to my “chicken friends”. Thank you for the help you’ve given and the interesting post sent throughout the year. I think you are a special group of people and I appreciate you all. With that said, I wish you all a merry Christmas and a great new year.
Larry
