Egg harvesting durring or after Corid Treatment, how long should I wait?

I purchased three 4.5 month old pullets that started showing signs of Coccidiosis infection 2 days after bringing them home. I started them on Corid 2 days ago and the hen that was exhibiting the strongest symptoms has become much more plucky and active.

I've heard that you should not to eat any eggs from hens that have laid within 2 weeks of having eaten medicated pellets, not sure of whythere, but, does the same apply to hens on Corid? If they do begin to lay within the next week will I really have to toss out the first egg I've been able to harvest and if so what is the reason?

I think there is none.

Corid is just concentrated amprolium, not an antibiotic, so you can eat the eggs.


Just noticed you are in Lilburn-I lived there for 5 years and my dad is still there.

I'm so glad to hear that! After raising our first chicks and getting them to this point after close to 20 months I would have been terribly disapointed to hear we wouldn't be able to use our first eggs.

Speckledhen what part of Lilburn were you or your father in? We're in the Brookwood High School district near the intersection of Five Forks Trickum Rd. and Ronald Reagan Pkwy. I love your Ten Commandments btw! I thought I had done quite a bit of research prior to starting up this whole venture, but, much like having kids, there were plenty of things I just didn't consider or was plain ignorant about. What was supposed to be an interesting pass-time has now become a much more involved and beloved hobby.

Not far at all from Five Forks Trickum. I lived on Hale Drive off Killian Hill (gosh, can't recall if it was 3 or 5 years now) when my DH retired from the Air Force, then we moved out to Dacula and lived there five years before moving up here to the mountains.
