Egg having touble hatching

It looks shrinkwrapped to me. What I did was get my finger wet with warm water and put it on the membrane so it would make it more pliable. I had to do that to a few chicks this time and all are doing great. You can then move the membrane away from the eye carefully. Everyone says don't help and I figure dead is dead so why not help, if it will die without my help anyway. I will say I am a newbie at this and in no way discount the fabulous advice everyone on here gives. For me not helping in not an option.

Having said all that I hope someone who does this all the time can give you some advice.

I agree. Use warm water to moisten that membrane. One time I had to do repeated applications of water before the chick was finally able to hatch.

It is wrapped pretty tight. Take a Q-tip dipped in warm water to get the membrane off the head area. Then you can use a dropper to moisten the rest and gently peel it away. Watch for any blood veins. Good luck.

So what happened? I had one I had to help yesterday- the top part of the shell was stuck to its head, covering the eye and nostril. I was successful. But- I have a couple I may have to help later today and am freaking out! Trying to put it off as long as possible.

I have a chick that had membrane stuck to him/her, last weekend. I kept dipping my finger in warm water and wetting the membrane....letting it soak in. As it got wet enough it easily peeled off. There was a small section, though, that had shell stuck to him/her and that is still there almost a week later. I call that chick "Stickie". I blame myself for that happening because I opened the incubator after it was pipped, to help another chick.

For my hatch this weekend I AM NOT GOING TO OPEN THE INCUBATOR

....no matter what!

Thursday afternoon, the little peep had hatched and was dry, but fallen out of the nest and very cold. I warmed her in my hand, put her in a box with a light and decided to put her under a more experienced mama who's on an almost due clutch. All seemed well when I check on them later. the following day I checked to see how they were. There was no peep under mama. We found the peep in a corner of the nest box dead. I don't know why it didn't make it, I guess it just wasn't strong enough
