Egg Help, please!

Hey guys, so as you may know we recently got a pair of BCM. They’re a little over 6 months old and my pullet just started laying last week.. it’s been going spEGGtacular until today.. this morning Kip layed an egg and we heard her and Haans normal notification calls so I said I’ll go out in a bit n grab it.. BUT they wouldn’t stop.. almost like there was a goanna or other kind of predator trying to get in the run. So I threw on shoes and RAN outside to find this.. almost completely white egg that is dented in, soft and almost skin-like on the sides. Like it deformed coming out.

two main questions

1) why so soft? Is her body just figuring things out (only her 7th egg I believe, have to check the logs)? Should I be worried or supplement more?

2) why is it almost WHITE!?!? She’s been getting progressively darker, now this.. should I be worried? Lol but not really lol’ing

Softshell eggs happen sometimes. It's not a big deal.

If it's only a few times a year, don't worry about it--the next one should be fine.

If it happens regularly, that would mean the hen needs more calcium in her diet (usually by making sure crushed oyster shell or crushed egg shell is available to her at all times, so she could then eat it as she needs it.)

It's not brown because the inner layers of shell are white, and the brown goes on last--but got skipped this time.

Mark it as a glitch.. the Marans n Araucana are separated and I only have one BCM hen. Ughhh I can’t wait for these BLUES too

As everyone has said, it's just a new layer glitch. It's nothing to worry about unless it keeps happening.
